Switzerland
Geneva SwitzerlandThe best part of living in Switzerland is that all the tourist attractions are so close to each other that this country is a living paradise. Right at the center are the beautiful Alps which give this country its true beauty, in terms of landscapes and the climate. Amongst the various cities in this country, Basel is a good option for settling down as it has many industries where work is not a problem. This city is situated on the meeting point of Switzerland, Germany and France and Europe's oldest hotel, the Three Kings on the Rhine is located here. Bern is another option, for you to consider, and being the capital, finding work shall not be a problem for most. This city is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world with mesmerizing scenic beauty. The third option is the city of Geneva, which is considered the 8th most important financial center globally. Besides being tremendously beautiful, it is also considered the 4th most expensive city in the world. A global city, the list of international organizations here is infinite. Geneva's lake front and the Old Town only add to its mesmerizing beauty. The fourth option here would undoubtedly be the city of Zurich which is known for its financial organizations and institutions and is the most populous city in the country. Lake Zurich and the numerous art galleries provide much needed recreation for those who want to have the best of both worlds.
Mediterranean Islands
Mediterranean IslandsIf you're looking at the most beautiful places to live in the world, in order to retire, this option is perhaps the best I can suggest. The Mediterranean islands are all those islands that are a part of the Mediterranean sea. This means, you have islands from as many as 4-5 countries to choose from. Each island here is equally serene and much more than the superlative degree of beautiful, if there is any. Some of the islands you can choose from are Sicily and Sardinia in Italy and Corsica in France. Corsica is one of the least developed area in the Mediterranean and is thus not at all spoiled. This makes it a very good option if you want to retire amongst other options such as Majorca in Spain and Lesbos and Rhodes in Greece. More than half the population of Majorca is engaged with the tourism sector in one way or the other, showing us the relaxed lifestyle they must be accustomed to. Lesbos is a place you should choose only and only if you're willing to live completely without the feeling of being in a proper town whereas on the contrary, Rhodes has it all for you. Beautiful landscapes, sites and we certainly can't forget the Palace of the Grand Master that only adds to the beauty.
Paris
ParisYes, Paris is the largest city in France and one of the most populated metropolitan areas in Europe but it is still and will always remain one of the most beautiful cities on the face of this Earth. Every person, no matter what his/her age, or the purpose for which he/she wants to settle in a different city, Paris certainly is the most favorite. Though the population is a problem for most, the mesmerizing architecture and the number of World Heritage Sites it boasts of, make living here, all in all, a good experience. Paris is situated on the Seine river, and in 2009, it was one of the most influential cities in the world and also one of the top three European cities of the future according to Financial Times. If there was an all-rounder in cities, it would undoubtedly be Paris. Right from education to fashion and from media to science, it's influential in almost every sector, that too to a great extent. However, one important note here is that along with being one of the most beautiful places to live, this city is also considered one of the most expensive cities to live in. Also, if you would be living in this city, you would host a total of 45 million tourists or more every year.
Italy

It was Brazil's capital for a very long time until Brasilia took its place. Housing here includes 16th to 19th century houses combined with contemporary renowned designs of the 20th century. The Portuguese Imperial family resided here and thus the architecture is worth an experience. Option four would be undoubtedly the city of Brasilia which has nothing less the 122 foreign embassies. The quality of life in this city is very high compared to others and it also has efficient transit facilities with cuisine to die for. On the other hand, if you are looking for a quieter city, and one that would give you the feeling of living away from everyone and yet have a surreal beauty, you should check out Ouro Preto, a city that is surely on my list of most beautiful places to live in the world.
